Sister, I didn’t plan this message. Coming back from maternity leave, I had other ideas for my first episode back. But as I looked over my notes, I just felt the Holy Spirit whisper, “No, this one. This is the message for today.” So here we are – talking about what it looks like to be faithful when you’re flat-out exhausted.
Because I’ve been there.
On this episode of the podcast, I share about my latest pregnancy. It was brutal. There were weeks when I could barely eat or open my eyes. My head pounded constantly, my vision was blurry, I couldn’t walk across the room without feeling dizzy. My prayers turned into desperate one-liners: “God, help me.” And even when I couldn’t form full prayers, He was near. There was a season when all I could do was listen to a quiet worship song on my phone, volume barely above zero, just to feel His presence again. I couldn’t read, I couldn’t write, but I could cling. That’s what hope looked like then… barely hanging on.
When our baby was born, we named her Sophia Brielle. Sophia means wisdom. Brielle means God is my strength. Honestly – I thought God would send us rest. The boy name we had picked out was Noah, which means rest. But instead, He sent wisdom.
And as I prayed through those early postpartum days, I realized why. God was teaching me that wisdom sometimes is rest – wisdom to say no, wisdom to slow down, wisdom to stop pushing myself past what He designed me for. He sent me wisdom because I needed to remember that hustle doesn’t heal. Jesus does.
Rest isn’t selfish. It’s one of the most faithful things we can do. If you’re constantly running, working, or worrying, whether that’s through your fertility journey, motherhood, or everyday life, you’re not alone. But sister, God didn’t design you to burn out. He designed you to bear fruit, and fruit only grows when we abide. That means eating real food, drinking water, saying no to what’s draining you, and yes to stillness. Faithful fertility doesn’t come from doing it all. It comes from being still enough to let God move.
If you are needing guidance this season, I would love to encourage you come join me inside Fertility Framework. We unpack so many profound truths about God’s design, the affects of the fall, and about how our daily lifestyle decisions impacts our fertility.
Whether you’re in the waiting, the trying, or the holding phase – be all there.
If you’re waiting to conceive, use this season to grow your roots deep in Him.
If you’re pregnant, let Him sustain you.
If you’re holding a baby, soak it in and remember that rest is worship.
Because He’s using every moment to shape you into the woman He’s called you to be.
