There’s a diagnosis that gets spoken over so many women, and every time I hear it, it hits me in the gut. It’s quiet, clinical, and deeply wounding all at once: “You have unexplained infertility.” Women hear those words and they don’t just take home a medical statement. They take home a story. A story that sounds final. A story that makes them feel defective or broken. A story that whispers, “Something is wrong with me, and no one knows why.”
But here’s what I want to tell you with every ounce of compassion and boldness inside me: unexplained infertility does not mean unexplainable. It means someone stopped looking. It means the medical system reached its current limits. It does not mean your body is a mystery to God. And it certainly does not mean your story is over. Listen to this week’s episode of the podcast to hear more on the topic!
Most women assume the phrase “unexplained infertility” is a final, authoritative conclusion. But in reality, it often just means that basic fertility tests didn’t reveal something obvious. Most women are never asked about their stress levels, their nutrition, their sleep, their complete hormonal patterns, or their cervical mucus. They are rarely asked about gut health, inflammation, liver function, environmental toxins, or mineral deficiencies. So when someone gives limited testing and then shrugs, that’s not a diagnosis. That’s a gap.
And yet, instead of addressing root causes, the next sentence is usually, “Let’s try IUI or IVF.” It’s like jumping straight to a $5,000 or $40,000 plan without addressing breakfast, sleep, hydration, or ovulation health. It’s not that doctors are malicious; it’s that conventional medicine simply isn’t trained to address fertility from the whole-body, root-cause perspective. But that doesn’t mean those root causes aren’t real or important. They absolutely are. In my program, Fertility Framework, we dedicate extensive time to diving into root causes and assessing fertility health in a holistic fashion.
There is something spiritually dangerous about any human claiming authority over whether you will ever get pregnant. When a doctor says, “You probably won’t conceive without medical intervention,” it can feel like the ending of your story. But no doctor gets to write the final chapter on a womb that God created.
If God can open Sarah’s womb at ninety…
If He can give Hannah a son after years of unanswered prayers…
If He can place John the Baptist into Elizabeth’s aging body…
He can do what He pleases with yours.
God has never once been limited by biology. Not one time in human history. He is still the Author of miracles. He is still the Creator of life. And He has the final say – not medicine, not a clinic, not a diagnosis. Inside Fertility Framework, we look into these women’s stories and glean from the lessons they learned about how God always has the final say over our lives. And praise God! Because His plans are always for our good.
This is where the enemy loves to attack – with shame, hopelessness, comparison, fear, and identity lies. Children are not just babies. They are kingdom carriers, future worshipers, future warriors. Of course the enemy wants to shut down wombs that will bring forth arrows for the Kingdom. He comes after joy, peace, marriage, faith, and intimacy.
But God never calls His daughters broken. Not once. He calls you chosen. Loved. Seen. Designed with purpose. Your womb is not abandoned. Your body is not forgotten. You are not unexplainable.
Let’s talk about the physical side, because this matters. Most women who are trying to conceive are actually undernourished – low in protein, minerals, fats, and calories. Not because they don’t care, but because life is heavy. Stress is high. And the world taught us to snack or diet instead of nourishing our bodies.
But ovulation is expensive for the body. Hormones require nutrients. The body has to feel safe enough to open the door for new life. So when a woman isn’t eating enough, drinking enough, or getting the nutrients her hormones need, the body pulls back. Ovulation becomes weak, inconsistent, or absent. And yet most women are sent into expensive treatments without anyone ever asking what they’re feeding their bodies. It’s insane, honestly.
If you grew up in the 90s like I did, your liver has survived some things. Pop-Tarts, Doritos, high fructose corn syrup, dyes, preservatives, seed oils, and mystery meat. The liver filters everything – hormones, medications, toxins, chemicals. If it’s overwhelmed, hormones can’t function properly.
When the liver is sluggish, women can feel tired, inflamed, moody, bloated, foggy, or irregular. They might struggle to lose weight or feel constantly depleted. Ovulation will often suffer. Yet most doctors never ask a single question about liver health or gut function. And if the gut is inflamed or imbalanced, nutrient absorption drops, hormones misfire, inflammation rises, and fertility declines. None of this is “unexplained.” It’s just unaddressed. I
f you are curious about the state of your hormones, or if you suspect hormone imbalance, I invite you to take my free hormone quiz to get a sneak peak into what your body is saying.
This one makes me want to scream into a pillow. Cervical mucus is the most accurate predictor of ovulation, often more helpful than charting apps or ovulation strips. It tells us whether ovulation is approaching, whether sperm can survive, and whether conception is even possible.
And yet… so many women are never taught how to read it. Many bring their charts to the doctor and are brushed off because the doctor doesn’t know how to interpret fertility charting. How can something be labeled “unexplained” when the body is showing visible, trackable evidence of what’s going on, and no one is trained to read it? Join me in Fertility Framework to learn all about charting and how to understand the storybook of your body!
If someone has spoken the phrase “unexplained infertility” over your body, I want you to hear this as clearly as possible: you are not at a dead end. You are at the beginning of a deeper journey. God is not confused by your fertility. He is not silent. He is not finished. There are answers – physically, spiritually, and practically.
This is why Fertility Framework exists. It’s not just a course. It’s a journey back to understanding your body and partnering with the Holy Spirit. We dig into nourishment, hydration, minerals, sleep, cycle charting, cervical mucus, inflammation, liver support, gut healing, and prayer. We stop guessing, and we start uncovering what the body has been trying to say. You don’t have to navigate this alone.
