Trusting God’s Timing: A Journey of Faith and Fertility

Trusting in God’s timing is one of the most challenging aspects of faith. This can especially be difficult when navigating seasons of trying to conceive or healing from a miscarriage. We often wrestle with questions like, “Am I trying to control things too much, or is God guiding me to take this step?” Learning how to discern God’s voice is so important! It will help you grow in your relationship with Him and help you to trust in His timing.

I’ve had the honor of walking alongside clients in my Fertility Framework program, many of whom are new to Christianity. They often ask, “How do I spend time with Jesus? What does that look like?” Let’s walk through some intentional steps to draw closer to God. I hope this helps you find practical ways to deepen your faith and recognize His presence in your unique journey.

Let’s anchor this discussion in Scripture with Matthew 11:28-30

I want you to imagine Jesus crying this out to you…

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

My sister, Jesus wants you to come to Him. He loves you so desperately. You can’t even imagine it. Yes, YOU, He loves you! And this is what Jesus says to you because of His great love for you. His love is greater than how your husband loves you. His love is greater than how your mother loves you. His love is greater than how your father loves you. His love is perfect and He wants all of you. Jesus speaks directly to you through these words, inviting you to lay down your burdens and find rest in Him. Whether you are carrying the weight of uncertainty, grief, or unmet desires, Jesus is saying: “Come to me.” His love is greater than anything you can imagine, and He wants to walk alongside you, offering peace and comfort through every season.

The following five questions will help you reflect on your relationship with Jesus and discover how to connect with Him personally. I encourage you to take some time to write down your answers—these reflections can become a beautiful foundation for your spiritual journey. So grab a notebook and your favorite pen!

  1. What do you love doing when you’re alone?
    • Think of activities you naturally gravitate toward in your alone time (excluding screens!). Do you enjoy journaling, painting, reading, or creating? These are great places to invite Jesus in. For me, I love journaling and reading, especially books related to faith, birth, and healing. How can you include Jesus in the things you love?
  2. When do you feel closest to your spouse and why?
    • Marriage reflects our relationship with Christ. Think about times you’ve felt deeply connected with your spouse—maybe on a vacation, during quiet conversations, or through acts of affection. These moments can offer clues on how you might connect with Jesus. For me, I feel closest to my spouse when we have uninterrupted time to talk deeply or simply sit together. How might these dynamics translate into your relationship with God?
  3. If you could spend a day doing anything, what would it be?
    • Imagine an ideal day—where would you be, and what would you do? This exercise helps you understand what nourishes your soul. I dream of being in Hawaii, surrounded by mountains and ocean, writing and reading by myself. If you could incorporate God into such a day, what would that look like for you?
  4. What unique gifts or passions has God given you?
    • We each have unique talents and interests—whether it’s cooking, art, teaching, or serving others. Reflect on the things you naturally love to do and consider how these gifts can be used to glorify God. I’ve always been drawn to creative expression, whether through writing, painting, or teaching. How can your passions become opportunities to connect with Jesus or serve others?
  5. What aspects of nature or movement connect you with God?
    • Nature can be a powerful way to connect with God. Think back to moments when you felt most at peace outdoors—whether near the ocean, in the mountains, or simply walking through a park. For me, water has always been a source of connection with God, from swimming as a child to enjoying streams and lakes. How might spending time in nature become a form of worship for you?

Spending time with Jesus can be personalized based on individual interests. Once you’ve answered these questions, take some time to reflect on what they reveal about yourself and how you can incorporate them into your relationship with the Lord. Here are some ways to apply your insights:

  • Incorporate Jesus into your favorite activities: If you love journaling, try writing letters to God or reflecting on Scripture. If you enjoy hiking, take a walk and pray as you move through nature.
  • Create intentional time with God: Just as you feel close to your spouse during uninterrupted moments, set aside regular time to be still with God.
  • Use your gifts to serve: Whether through creative projects, hospitality, or acts of kindness, use your talents as a way to honor God.
  • Connect through nature: Make time to enjoy the outdoors, whether it’s a walk, a swim, or sitting by a river. Let the beauty of creation remind you of God’s presence.

Building a relationship with Jesus requires intentionality. This is just the beginning of an ongoing series about growing in your relationship with Jesus. If you found this helpful, I’d love to continue sharing more Bible-based encouragement with you. Let’s walk this journey together, keeping our faith rooted in Christ, no matter what season we are in.

Community is important! I’d love to hear your thoughts and reflections! Just as God draws each of us uniquely, your experiences will be different from mine, and that’s part of what makes this journey so beautiful.
