It’s a scene I’ve walked through with so many women: you leave the doctor’s office with a new prescription in hand for Letrozole, Metformin, Clomid… maybe even a combination. You want to trust the process, but something inside you hesitates. You wonder: Is this the right next step for me? Am I moving too fast? Will this help or hurt in the long run? And how do I even know if I’m making a God-honoring choice?
In this episode, I talk through four powerful, prayerful questions that can help you discern what to do next when meds are on the table. Friend, I want to walk with you into those questions, not with fear, but with wisdom. Not with pressure, but with peace.
I know, I know. This one feels obvious. But it’s also the one we’re most likely to skip. We get labs back, see the results and the plan seems straightforward. So we act. But sometimes, what looks medically wise on paper isn’t aligned with what God is doing in our hearts, or in our bodies. I’ve caught myself saying things like, “My thyroid’s off, so I’ll just adjust my meds.” And later I realize… I never stopped to pray.
We don’t need to treat prayer like a formality. It’s the gateway to peace. Jeremiah 29:13 doesn’t say, “You’ll find the right plan.” It says, “You will seek me and find me.” When we seek Him, not just a solution. We open ourselves to more than answers. We open ourselves to alignment with His will.
So before you fill the prescription, pause. Ask Him. Wait. Listen. Is this a yes? A no? A “wait”? A “keep asking”? He will lead you.
This question isn’t about guilt. It’s about clarity. Sometimes, medication is needed. But sometimes it’s offered as a first resort when there’s still so much you can do naturally.
If you and I were on a consult call, I’d ask:
Because so often, when we gently support the systems God designed, healing comes. Cycle issues like delayed ovulation or low progesterone might be symptoms of something deeper: adrenal fatigue, inflammation, toxin exposure, spiritual unrest. What if your body isn’t broken? What if it’s just asking for help in a different way? If you would like to book a consult with me, I offer free 10-minute sessions. I would love to hear your story.
This one’s huge. Let me be clear: fertility meds aren’t evil. I’m a birth doula and hormone coach who supports women whether they choose natural or medical support, or both (check out what services I offer here). But I also see how often these medications are prescribed to force the body into a result, rather than healing what’s underneath. They do not always improve gut health if your digestion is impaired, heal a fried nervous system, detox a sluggish liver, balance cortisol or insulin or support trauma stored in your tissues or heart.
That’s where the disconnect happens. The medication may induce ovulation, but if the deeper issues remain untouched, you might end up back at square one, or dealing with side effects that make things even more confusing. One woman told me, “I went on meds, but my cervical mucus completely disappeared, and I felt worse.” Sometimes, overriding your body leads to more chaos instead of clarity.
So let’s ask the question: Is this healing, or is this overriding?
There are more paths than your OB might lay out. Yes, they play a role, but there are tons of options:
You’re not meant to walk this alone. And you’re not meant to make decisions in a vacuum. Inside my course, Fertility Framework, I help women map out what’s normal, what’s not, and what their options are. For some women, they realize, “I don’t need meds right now. I need to rest, eat better, track my ovulation, and let God bring restoration.” For others, it becomes clear; “Okay, I’ve done what I can. It’s time to bring in a practitioner.” Either way, we walk together.
So many women feel rushed, pressured, and overwhelmed by fertility decisions. And I get it. When you’ve been waiting months, or even years for that positive test, every day feels heavy. But medicine isn’t a magic wand. And waiting doesn’t make you weak. Seeking God first isn’t a delay. It’s a declaration: I trust You, Lord. Even here. Even now. Even when it’s confusing.
Join me inside Fertility Framework, where I’ll walk with you step-by-step through healing your hormones, understanding your cycle, and restoring your hope.
If you need support and guidance, I would love for you to book a free 10-minute consult with me here.
