134 | Naya’s Story: Miscarriage, Motherhood, and the God Who Never Left

I’ve often said that birth isn’t something we control—it’s something we walk through. And today’s story is a beautiful, raw reminder of that truth.

You may remember Naya from Episode 37 of the podcast. When she first joined me, she was about 13 weeks pregnant with her rainbow baby. It had been a long road to get there—one marked by two devastating losses, a lot of waiting, and even more surrender.

In that first episode, we celebrated her pregnancy. But today? We’re walking through what happened next: her delivery, her postpartum recovery, and how she saw God show up in unexpected (and sometimes really hard) ways.

This is not a polished Instagram-worthy story. It’s better. It’s real. And it’s full of grace.

But first let us consider this verse from Isaiah 55: 8-9

This verse reminds us that God sees the whole picture even when we don’t. In a season where you feel like you’re doing all the right things and still seeing no fruit, it’s easy to wonder what you’re missing or if God is even listening. Isaiah 55 gently shifts our perspective: the delay is not a denial, and the unseen work God is doing may be deeper and more loving than we can comprehend. His ways aren’t always the easiest, but they are always best.

Naya and her husband began trying to conceive after their church wedding in 2020. They experienced loss quickly—first an 8-week miscarriage, and then a chemical pregnancy shortly after. It was heartbreaking, confusing, and left Naya wondering:

“Lord, I feel like You put this desire in me. So why is it not happening?”

She eventually found her way into my coaching program, where she learned how to support her body naturally. Through anti-inflammatory eating, toxin removal, nervous system regulation, and deep faith, she created an environment for healing.

And finally—after two years of waiting—she saw that positive test. If you are on your journey to pregnancy and need support, you can get it with me through my Fertility Framework course.

“I saw how my body responded to the changes. That gave me the encouragement to keep going.”

But it wasn’t all smooth. Around 32 weeks, Naya’s midwife—the one she’d carefully chosen, the one who aligned with her birth values—got injured. She would no longer be available to attend the birth.

Cue the disappointment, the grief, the “but I planned this…” spiral.

And once again, God whispered:

“Not the midwife. Not the doctor. Me. I am the one who delivers.”

As her due date approached, Naya was told there might be low fluid levels, and induction was suggested. Thankfully, further testing showed everything was fine. That night, labor began on its own.

She labored at home for nearly 24 hours before heading to the hospital, where she learned she was four centimeters. The hospital staff was kind. Her husband was by her side. But it was slow… and exhausting.

Eventually, after two days without much sleep or food, she opted for an epidural so she could rest.

And hours later, she met her baby boy—born with his little hand up next to his face, which explained why pushing took so long.

“You make your plans… but God knows how it’s going to go.”

But the challenges didn’t end with birth.

Her baby was diagnosed with jaundice and admitted to the nursery. Naya was discharged, but her baby was not. Her husband wasn’t allowed to stay. She was alone in a side room, physically weak and emotionally drained.

She wanted to breastfeed—but he was under phototherapy, and bottle-fed donor milk instead.

“I had dreamed of breastfeeding… and now I was stressed and anxious and pumping constantly.”

But God kept showing up.

A call from a hospital social worker helped shift the path. They encouraged her to offer the breast every time baby showed signs of hunger. So she did. Every 10 minutes, every 5 minutes, all day long.

And her milk came in.

She’s been nursing ever since.

Naya’s story isn’t just about the outcome of having a baby. It’s about the journey. It’s about plans that changed, hopes that were delayed, and a faith that grew stronger through every surrender.

In her own words:

“I was trusting people. But God reminded me—He’s the Doctor of doctors. It’s not about trusting the midwife or the OB. It’s about trusting Him.”

This story is also filled with gentle warnings—especially for mamas navigating hospital birth:

Third-trimester ultrasounds aren’t always accurate.

Postpartum protocols (like NICU for jaundice) can deeply impact your early bonding and breastfeeding.

Interview your pediatric team just as carefully as your midwife or OB.

But most of all, it’s an invitation.

An invitation to surrender the plans. To trust the process. To believe that even when it looks different… God is still delivering.

If you’re in the middle of the wait—longing for a baby, aching from loss, unsure of how this will ever work out—this is for you.

You are not forgotten. You are not forsaken. And you are not alone.

God is writing a story for you. It may not be the one you expected. But it will be good. Because He is good.

And He is the One who delivers.
