The “two week wait.” If you’ve ever tried to conceive, you know those words carry a lot of weight. It’s the stretch of time between ovulation and the day you can finally take a pregnancy test. And while it may be only 10–14 days, it often feels like a lifetime. I’ve been there many times. I remember those days of watching the calendar, analyzing every twinge, Googling symptoms that might not even mean anything. It felt like time moved in slow motion. And in the middle of all that waiting, I often asked myself: Is there anything I can actually do right now? Or do I just sit and hope?
The answer I’ve discovered is both practical and spiritual. Yes, there are steps you can take to support your body after ovulation. But perhaps more importantly, there’s an invitation from God to wait well, to press into Him when the waiting feels impossible. Listen to this episode of the podcast where I share my own story and the things the Lord revealed during this season.
When the waiting gets long, I turn to Psalm 27:14. David wrote this in a season of fear and opposition. He wasn’t waiting for something simple or small, he was waiting on God’s deliverance, His protection, His very presence. And David’s posture in that waiting was not despair but trust. He looked beyond his immediate circumstances and fixed his eyes on the eternal. That verse reminds me that the two week wait isn’t just about waiting for a positive pregnancy test. It’s about learning to wait on the Lord. It’s about strengthening our hearts in His presence, even when we don’t know the outcome. It’s about letting Him write our story, in His timing, for His glory. I encourage you to join our Facebook Group where women are able to share their stories and experiences, and encourage each other along the way.
Now let’s get a little practical. One of the most important hormones after ovulation is progesterone. It’s the hormone that helps prepare your uterus for implantation and sustain early pregnancy. Without enough progesterone, even a fertilized egg may struggle to implant or remain healthy.
Here’s the tricky part: stress steals from progesterone.
When your body perceives stress, whether it’s running into a bear on a hike or scrolling through social media and feeling the sting of another pregnancy announcement, it releases cortisol, your stress hormone. Cortisol tells your body, “We’re in survival mode.” And when your body is in survival mode, it shuffles resources away from reproduction. That means chronic stress, even the subtle kind we’ve learned to live with, can make it harder for your body to produce the progesterone you need. So waiting well isn’t just a spiritual practice. It has real, tangible effects on your hormones. If you want to learn more about how both the spiritual and physical realities of our life affect fertility, come join us inside Fertility Framework. In this course, we walk through not just the science, but also the Scripture that pertains to women’s bodies and the hardships that they face in regards to conception.
Here’s where I’ve been convicted in my own life. Not all stress looks like panic or anxiety. Sometimes it’s just the constant busyness of everyday life. I’m a homeschooling mom of three young kids, plus I run this ministry and business. My days are full of laundry, meals, spilled drinks, stair-running, and answering endless questions. It’s joyful, yes, but also chaotic. For years, I brushed it off as “normal.” But God began to show me that even the daily chaos was taking a toll on my body.
Stress doesn’t have to look like a mental breakdown to affect your hormones. It could smaller things such as:
The truth is, your body interprets all of these as stress. And that stress can interrupt the delicate balance your fertility depends on. (Take my free hormone quiz to discover if your hormones need extra support in this season.)
So what do we do with that? The answer isn’t to control every variable or live in a bubble. The answer is to invite God into those stressors.
Here are some ways I’ve been learning to do this:
While the spiritual side is central, there are also practical ways to support your body in this season:
These steps may feel small, but combined with prayer and trust, they create an environment where your body is more likely to thrive. Inside of my course, Fertility Framework, I have the opportunity to help guide you and tailor advice to your specific situation. Our bodies are all unique, created masterfully by God, and we are all in various places during our journey. I would absolutely love to help guide you and pray with you.
If you’re in the two week wait right now, let me remind you: God already knows the outcome. He knows if He has knit life in your womb this cycle. He knows if this is a season of more waiting. And He is with you in both. Yes, I pray this is your month. I pray you see those two pink lines. But even if you don’t, your waiting is not wasted. God is working in you, preparing you, strengthening you.
Sister, if you’re in this season of waiting, know you are not alone. This is one of the most vulnerable, emotional parts of the fertility journey, and yet it can also be one of the most spiritually transformative.
If you want to go deeper into understanding your cycle, supporting your hormones, and finding faith-filled, Holy Spirit led encouragement, I’d love for you to check out my course Fertility Framework. Pray about whether this could be the next step God has for you.
In the meantime, I’m praying for you. May your heart be steady, your body supported, and your hope anchored in Him.
